CCpur commences PPI programme

Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI), 2022 programme in respect of Churachandpur district has been launched on Thursday by the district's assistant deputy commissioner (ADC) Jousanglur Joute at the District Immunisation Office, here Soon after launching the campaign, oral polio drops were administered to several children by Jousanglur, who was also chief guest of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Jousanglur appreciated the medical fraternity for taking various programmes in spite of erratic fund flows and assured of providing all possible assistance from the side of district administration.
Attending as functional president, District Hospital CMO Dr Kimngaihching said that India had been declared polio free way back in 2011, but due to prevalence of polio cases in neighbouring countries like Afghanistan and others, authorities have taken up the immunisation programme to ensure complete eradication of the disease.
In all, 300 booths have been opened for the purpose with 17 divisional supervisors and 17 sectoral supervisors assigned duty for ensuring administration of polio drops to all children in the age group of 0 to 5 years in the district.
Apart from routine polio immunisation, a team will also be entrusted to carry out house to house visit and give oral polio drops to those children who missed the same during routine polio immunisation programme,' she further informed.
