Ex-servicemen meet / cancer camp held

On the occasion of 187th Assam Rifles Day, Jwalamukhi Battalion Assam Rifles of 22 Sector/Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organised an ex-servicemen meet cum cancer awareness camp at Lairouching on Thursday.
A large number of ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, and widows from Kangpokpi, Senapati, and Imphal West districts participated in the event.
Interaction and discussion on the various welfare schemes for the ex-servicemen were the main highlights of the event.
The camp included free medical check-up for the ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, and widows.
A grievance cell was also opened to address the grievances and problems faced by the ex-servicemen.
Breast and Cervix Cancer Awareness cum Inspection camp was also organised on the occasion for the families of Jwalamukhi garrison.
A team of well-known doctors in their field was invited to present a lecture cum interactive session on the subject.
Subsequently, Dr Aruna, a senior Gynaecologist inspected the early detection of Breast and Cervix Cancer.
Meanwhile, Jwalamukhi Battalion provided sports equipment to Koutruk Youth Club of Imphal West District in Manipur under the OP Sadhbhavna initiative.
Assam Rifles also felicitated a National Junior Level Table Tennis player named Colman Ningthoujam from Koutruk Youth Club.
In the absence of basic sports infrastructure and a table tennis board, Colman was unable to continue his practice and could not coach and inspire the youth of the village.
Citizens and eminent members of the village were present in the presentation ceremony to support the cause and encourage the youth.
