'Govt schemes yet to reach proper saturation'

Manipur State Commission for the Scheduled Tribe chairperson (in-charge) Dr Tara Manchin Hangshi has said that though there are various government schemes, they are yet to reach proper saturation in benefiting the targeted population.
Attending as chief guest of the inaugural function of a one-day seminar on Awareness and implementation of women related central schemes' organised by Manipur State Commission for Women at Hotel Imphal, North AOC here on Thursday, Dr Tara Manchin said that over 1000 schemes are being implemented by the central and state governments for public welfare.
However, these schemes are yet to cover all the targeted population due to lack of awareness and information outreach activities.
At the same time, benefits of these schemes are often limited to near and dear ones of MLAs and bureaucrat officers.
The situation is worse in the hill areas, she pointed out, while stressing the need of having proper knowledge about these schemes and getting the maximum benefits out of them.
It is the right of the public to seek benefits under these " schemes, the chairperson said.
She also hailed MSCW for organising the seminar while adding that it will help in creating awareness among the women and empower them.
Former MSCW chairperson Dr K Sobita moderated the technical session of the seminar, during which Social Welfare deputy director N Binobala spoke on various centrally sponsored schemes implemented by social welfare department, while Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission in-charge Gurumayum Kabita spoke on initiatives taken up for women under National Rural Livelihood Mission.
MSCW chairperson (in-charge) Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang presided over the inaugural function while MSCW member Lourembam Jayabati attended as guest of honour.
