City to host International bioresources conclave

Imphal, February 17 2023:
A three-day International Bioresources Conclave and Ethnopharmacology Congress (ISE SFEC-2023) would be held at the City Convention Centre here from February 24 to 26 .
The conclave is being jointly organised by the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal and the International Society for Ethnopharmacology, Switzerland under the theme "Re-imagine Ethnophar-macology: Globalization of Traditional Medicines" .
Speaking to media persons at IBSD, Takyelpat today, ISE SFEC 2023 chairman and IBSD Director Prof Pulok K Mukherjee said that scientists from around 35 countries would deliberate on bioresources and traditional medicine during the conclave.
Many scientists would deliver over 110 lectures on bioresources development, traditional medicine and ethnopharmacology, he said.
The conclave would also feature a discussion session with a number of traditional healers, Prof Pulok K Mukherjee said.
Society for Ethnophar-macology, Kolkata vice-president Indraneel Das said that the Society for Ethnopharmacology, India which is affiliated to the International Society for Ethnopharmacology has been working on the mission "Globalizing local knowledge and localising global technologies" .
Indraneel Das said that the conclave would also feature discussion sessions which would focus on development and promotion of bioresources and ethnopharmacology.
The conclave cum congress which would be held at Imphal for the first time would help in showcasing and developing bioresources found in the North East region in general and Manipur in particular, Indraneel said.
The congress would provide an opportunity for knowledge sharing among researchers, policy makers, industry persons, healthcare practitioners and decision-makers interested in the promotion of bioresources, traditional medicines, ethnopharmacology and drug discovery, Indraneel added.
