Council, JTC warn against disrupting road project

Village Authority Chairman Council, Tousem sub-division under Tamenglong district has urged all CSOs, stakeholders, village authority chairmen, students, organisations, groups, society and individuals within the jurisdiction of Tousem sub-division (block) to extend cooperation to the on-going road construction from Tamenglong to Mahur as to facilitate authorities concerned complete the work within the stipulated timeframe given by the government.
In a notice jointly issued by president Athui Gonmei and secretary ND Athiubou, the Council cautioned that legal action, both criminal and civil, as per the existing laws and customary practices will be initiated against any organisation, group, societies, individual who obstruct/threaten/disturb/demand or interrupt the road construction or movement of the workers, company engineers, drivers and employees, engaged in the said road construction without any genuine reason.
Any criminal intimidation by individual and organisations shall be at their own risk, it added.
Similarly, Joint Tribes Council (Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme) has appealed to the land owners, villagers, organisations, public leaders and people of Tamenglong district to let the construction of NH-137 (Tamenglong-Mahur Road) complete without any hassle.
JTC expressed appreciation to all the landowners for sacrificing their valuable land for the sake of development.
Stating that that there might be some oversight issues leading to discontentment among some landowners, the council urged all to not disrupt the ongoing construction works and settle such issues in peaceful manner without disrupting the works.
