Imphal, February 17 2023:
Under the supervision of Kamjong DC and SP, a combined team of NAB, Forest officials, Phungyar police and Kasom police destroyed around 15 acres of poppy plantations at Marou village in Kamjong district.
As per the village chief, poppy plantation has been banned at Marou village since two years back.
Saying that no new plantation takes place at the village, the village chief claimed that the poppies that were destroyed had sprouted from the earlier plantations.
He requested the Government to hold a training programme and awareness programme on pest and disease management and plantation of other crops.
