Club clarifies over water intake well construction

Imphal, February 17 2023: Taking serious note of the misleading remark made by some individuals over a complaint raised by Kshetri Iril Mapal Youth Club in relation with construction of water intake well for water supply projects, vice-president of the club Md Alam Khan has clarified that the club never restricted the construction.

Interacting with the media at the construction site on Thursday, Alam Khan said that the downstream side of the bridge over Iril River at Top Khongnangkhong has weak banks.

The local MLA Md Noorul Hassan along with public contribution constructed the retaining wall to prevent breach of river tanks during the monsoon season.

However, the construction of water intake well has damaged parts of the retaining wall.

In order to avoid further damage, the club simply requested the department concerned to look into the condition and suspend the construction during monsoon season.

Besides, the club has apprised the department about the condition of the well, which is leaning towards the riverbed, he said.

Unfortunately, some individuals are making misleading remarks in media while trying to show the club as an aggressive body attempting to stake claim over tne river without understanding the reason behind the request, he added.
