Senapati, February 17 2023:
All Manipur Health Services Doctors' Association (AMHSDA) has submitted a memorandum to the Member of Parliament of Outer Manipur Dr Pfoze to help redress the plight of the doctors of the state.
In the memorandum, AMHSDA general secretary Dr Lolee P Mao stated that despite the assurances and promises for discussion of their demands in the cabinet meeting, nothing was discussed during the three cabinet meetings held between January and February, 2023 .
The AMHSDA has been demanding time scale promotion (doctors are kept without promotion for 20 years and forced to retire without getting even a single promotion), extension of service superannuation age of doctors to 65 years as administrative post, NPA with effect from January 1, 2016 as per 7th Central Pay Commission and major amendment of out-dated MHS Rules, 1982 .
Since the government is not taking seriously and undermining the demands already agreed, all the health institutions in the state have been shut down indefinitely from February 14 as declared in the press conference held at Manipur Press Club February 11.Common people especially the poor in the 10 hill districts are suffering though the valley people can get treatment at private hospitals, RIMS, JNIMS despite the indefinite closure of all health facilities, he added.
