CADA stages sit-ins at Yumnam Huidrom, Heigrujam

Continuing its protest against liquor legalisation in state, Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) and other women organisations staged sit-in protests at Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai and Heigrujam Mayai Leikai on Friday.
In a release, CADA information and publicity secretary L Brojen Angomcha informed that All Manipur Women's Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Sa-maj), CADA, Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) and Chaokhat Thourang Apunba Nupi Lup Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai staged sit-in protest at Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai community hall.
Speaking at the protest, AMKIL president Lourembam Nganbi posed whether government's 'War on Drugs' does not include liquor, isn't liquor an intoxicant.
Whether government's statement that only high quality liquor will be allowed for production will ensure no harmful effects of liquor will arise in the society.
Why hasn't the government produced a White Paper on liquor legalisation? It must revoke its order, she further asserted.
Nupi Samaj, CADA and Heigrujam Mayai Leikai Nungjel Leima Nupi Lup also held a sit-in protest at Heigrujam Mayai Leikai.
The protestors at the sit-ins held placards and shouted slogans against liquor legalisation and demanded revoking of the order, it further mentioned.
