Imphal, January 30 2015 :
Memorial stone of Mulonnang Pamei, the first chief of Paching Kabui Village, was unveiled on Friday by Leishemba Sanajaoba, titular king of Manipur.
As a part of the event, a book titled, 'Pou Mulonnang Pamei's Genealogy' was also released.
The event was also graced by Maipak Pamei, village chief; Amu Kamei, President of Zeliangrong Union, (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Leishemba Sanajaoba said present generation should not build walls full of thorns for future generation.
He observed that different communities residing in Manipur have been coexisting for a long time.
Every community has their own religion, custom and tradition.
However, there was no compart-mentalization between the communities.
We have instances where Meitei converts as Kabui; Soibam into Tangkhul; Tangkhul to Soibam; Haobam to Kabui and Kabui to Haobam.
Present compart-mentali-zation is due to lack of research.
This tradition has been lost after Manipur merged with India in 1947 .
