Taking serious note of unabated bomb explosions triggered by unidentified armed persons in Lilong, Thoubal district, thereby, causing death and injury, Lilong United Political Forum along with Lilong Bazar Development Organization staged a sit-in-protest at Lilong Bazar on Friday.
Speaking to newspersons during the protest, MV Abhivula, secretary of Anjuman expressed serious concern over the string of bomb blasts carried out in Lilong which has created a fear psychosis amongst the people of the constituency and demanded the organizations responsible for the blasts to clarify why the deadly attacks were carried out at the earliest.
Md Farid, secretary of Lilong United Political Forum, who was present at the protest demonstration, said that the continuing bomb blasts in Lilong is not an attack to the constituency but to the whole State while questioning lapses on part of the security personnel posted in the area.
So far, security personnel have not been able to nab those who are behind the blasts carried out in the area.
It is the innocent residents of the area who are the victims of ill-treatment and harassment meted out by security forces in the name of counter operation following such attacks, he pointed out.
Expressing willingness to shift the AR post from the area to some other places as its presence may be the main reason for triggering the bomb attacks; he demanded that the concerned organizations should clarify the reasons behind such repeated attacks.
If the clarification is not served by the concerned organizations at the earliest then intense agitation would be launched, the secretary of the forum cautioned.
Placards which read 'Do not trigger blasts in public places'; 'We want peace'; 'Stop bomb & gun culture', etc were displayed during the protest demonstration.
