Imphal, January 30 2015 :
A memorial pillar erected in the name of late Pou Mulonang Pamei, the first chief of Paching village of Maibam Lotpa Ching was unveiled today by titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba.
Leishemba Sanajaoba and Zeliangrong Union president Amu Kamei were the chief guest and guest of honour of the gathering where many village chiefs and invitees coming from Assam and Nagaland were also present.
Speaking at the occasion, Sanajaoba said that no artificial boundaries should be drawn between different indigenous communities of Manipur.
The Meiteis, the Kabuis, the Tangkhuls, the Marings and other indigenous tribes of Manipur share the same genealogical roots.
Many of the Meitei clans evolved from the present day Tangkhuls, Kabuis and Marings.

In the same manner, different clans of different tribes evolved and merged within different clans of Meitei community, Sanajaoba said.
Kabuis who first settled at Paching were advised by the king to cultivate tree bean, banana, pineapple etc.
Plantation of fruit bearing trees would not only help in augmenting family income but also help in tackling global climate change.
Since time immemorial, different communities of Manipur have been living in harmony.
It is crucial to forge unity among different communities in the interest of future generations.
The history of Manipur is a collective history of both the hills and valley.
The history of Imphal valley can never supplant a comprehensive history of Manipur, Sanajaoba asserted.
He further asked all those elements scheming to disintegrate Manipur to stop distorting and manipulating the history of Manipur.
Associate Prof Lanbilung Gothangmei gave a detail account of the age-old bond of fraternity shared between the hill people and plain people.
Later, Pou Maipak gave a brief account of Pou Mulonang Pamei.
