Imphal, January 30 2015 :
With the Government of Manipur failing to ensure the release of the two officials of M/s Coastal Projects Limited from their clutches of their kidnappers, the aggrieved family members and other concerned agencies, all from outside the State, have contemplated to take up the issue with the concerned Ministry of the Government of India.
M/s Coastal Projects Limited is one of the companies engaged in the ongoing construction work of railway line from Jiribam to Tupul.
According to information received by the press, the two officials identified as Forman Ramjit Thakur and driver Ranjul Haque Bhabiuya have been abducted by suspected armed cadres of Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) from a work site near Nungkao Part-III under Tousem Sub-division of Tamenglong district on January 19 .
Though the Bolero jeep in which they have gone was recovered by the police some days earlier, the whereabouts of the two kidnapped officials still remained unknown.
The kidnappers have demanded huge ransom amount to the tune of crores of rupees as pre-condition for the safe release of the officials, but M/s Coastal Projects Limited is not in a position to meet the demand.
Recently, family members of the kidnapped officials went to Jiribam and met different authorities with prayer for ensuring the safe return of the kidnapped officials but all in vain.
While the Government of Manipur has not been able to stop frequent instances of kidnapping of officials and workers engaged in the construction work of laying the rail line, Northern Frontier Railways is also acting as a silent spectator despite the mounting tension and insecurity at all worksites, sources said.
