Cultural programme held at Jessami

The border area villages of Nagas across the border of Manipur, Nagaland and Myanmar held a three-day 2nd cultural exchange programme at Jessami Block headquarters, Ukhrul under one banner 'Unity Through Culture', reports Mungchan Zimik.
The three-days cultural exchange programme was organised by Border Area Villages Association, BAVA, in collaboration with NEZCC, Dimapur from January 28 .
DC of Ukhrul Modak Hrisheekesh Arvind graced the cultural exchange programme as chief guest.
Altogether seven dance troupes - Zeliangrong, Tangkhul, Chakeshang, Pochury, Huishu, Jessami and Tusom village - took part in the three day cultural exchange programme.
Speaking at the occasion, chief guest MH Arvind said "we should promote the cultural beauty of the State" .
He also appreciated BAVA members for taking a bold step towards promoting peace and unity through cultural programmes.
Guest of honour of the event Jain Huileng spoke on humanism and culture for peace and love.
Pochury tribe president Penthu, during his speech, extended greetings on behalf of the Nagas from Nagaland.
Headmen and delegates from Kohima and Dimapur also attended today's function.
