Asserting that 'The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act' deprives farmer of their rights, Manipur Loumi Lup State Council (MLLSC) staged a protest demonstration in front of Mahatma Gandhi Statue at MG Avenue on Friday.
The protest was preceded by a rally from Irawat Bhawan.
The protesters also burnt the copies of the Act.
Addressing the gathering, Lup president Ningthoujam Mangi said the present Central Government under Narendra Modi is trying to communalize the polity.
He also said that Sakhshi Maharaj, BJP Member of Parliament had openly declared that statues of Nathuram Godse and Gopal Godse should be erected in every State Capitals of India.
Such an act is in complete defiance of the fact that both the brothers were involved in killing of Mahatma Gandhi, said MLLSC.
He said Gandhi propagated Hindu-Muslim unity, fought British colonialism through non-violence.
At the same time, Indian Constitution also reaffirmed the value of secularism by inserting the word 'secular' in the constitution.
Glorification of the killers of symbol of secularism and asking the citizens to erect their statues amounts to instigation of communal violence in the country, Mangi added.
