Imphal, January 30 2015 :
Condemning the repeated bomblasts at Lilong, Thoubal district, Lilong United Political Forum (LUPF) and Lilong Bazar Development Organisation (LBDO) staged a sit-in-protest at Lilong Keithel today.
The protest came a day after some suspected militants hurled a hand grenade towards the 40 AR post yesterday injuring two AR personnel and three other civilians.
Speaking to media persons, one protester - Dolaipabam Rahman said that it is unfortunate that the security forces have not been able to identify the perpetrators and their motives behind the blast.
The militants are reported to have attacked the AR post from an auto-rickshaw.
Rahman expressed doubts over how they made their escape right before the AR's nose adding that such incidents have instilled fear among the local people.
LUPF convenor Md Farid demanded the State Government to provide adequate compensation to the injured victims.
He further demanded clarification over the incident from all concerned.
ANJUMAN secretary MV Habibul said that the blast at the 40 AR post yesterday created confusion among the locals.
Before the blast yesterday, the local people had an impression that the recurrent blasts in Lilong were perpetrated by the AR forces.
The sit-in-protest concluded with a joint decision to demand identification of the perpetrators via media before February 5, to organise protest in case of failure, to demand assurance from the State Government that the people would not be threatened with similar incidents in the future and also to include clubs/organisations/associations under Lilong Kendra in its next joint meeting.
