MLA condemns attack

Keishamthong AC MLA L Ibomcha has strongly condemned the attack carried out on his convoy by bandh supporters near Lilong Usoipokpi bridge on January 23 last.
Speaking to reporters at his residence, L Ibomcha said that he went to Uyan Makha Leikai to attend a marriage ceremony that day.
When his convoy reached Lilong Usoipokpi bridge, they came under attack from bandh supporters, the MLA said and added that the bandh supporters not only pelted stones but also fired some bullets at his Chevrolet car (MN-01S/6557) .
Two bullets hit near the left front door while another bullet just missed the fuel tank, the MLA said.
Moreover, the escort commander was hurt in the incident as he was hit by a stone on his head, L Ibomcha said and added that windshield of one of the escort Gypsies was broken.
After a brief halt at Lilong police station, he went to the marriage venue, the MLA said.
Alleging that the attack was an attempt on his life, the MLA urged all concerned not to use deadly weapons like guns in people's movements.
Saying that he had registered an FIR at Lilong police station regarding the incident on January 24, the MLA said that Imphal West district police received the FIR only on January 27 .
Although he had shown the condition of his vehicle to Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, nothing has been informed about the FIR till date, the MLA said.
As such, he is now ready to return the vehicle provided by Civil Secretariat, Ibomcha added.
