CM scans Govt quarters, cancer hospital

It has been a long dream to establish a Cancer Hospital in the state, chief minister N Biren Singh said on Friday while inspecting ongoing works at the project sites of construction of Cancer Hospital by KARNIKOS at Porompat and construction of government quarters at New Checkon.
N Biren said that the government is targeting to inaugurate the hospital by March next, and added that the hospital will, to an extent, lessen the hardships faced by people of the state who need diagnosis and treatment for cancer outside the state.
The hospital is being constructed on PPP model with the KARNIKOS Healthcare, an international organisation.
On its completion, it will be empanelled for CMHT, PMJAY and other government schemes, the chief minister said.
He further informed that construction of a block of the government quarters at New Checkon will be completed by March next year, adding, "We are also targeting to complete some more blocks and hand them over to the public before 2024".Earlier, there were only single housing quarters, but with loans from HUDCO, new building facilities which are G+6 buildings are being constructed at the site, Biren continued.
The chief minister also said that once the complex is complete, it will solve at least 70-80 percent of issues faced by government employees due to lack of accommodation facilities.
During the site visit, the chief minister was accompanied by minister L Susindro Meitei, chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, officials and others.
