Imphal, November 04 2022:
The Federal Students' Organisation Kangleipak (FESOK) has expressed concern over the alleged availability of intoxicants and liquor within a 100 metre radius of schools and colleges.
A press release issued by FESOK said that a team of the organisation led by its vice president Ronald Kennedy carried out a drive at the adjacent areas of TG Higher Secondary School, GP Women College and Brighter Academy today.
Saying that tobacco products were found selling within 100 metre radius of the three institutions during the drive while liquor vendors are being set up near Brighter Academy at New Checkon, FESOK appealed to all local clubs and the people of Manipur in saving the lives of students.
It is unfortunate that some people opt to sell intoxicants such as tobacco and liquor in close proximity to educational institutions, it said and urged the authorities concerned to look into the matter at the earliest.
