CM launches tourism promotional campaign

In connection with the upcoming Sangai Festival 2022, chief minister N Biren Singh launched the Manipur Tourism's promotional campaign 'Experiencing Manipur Sangai Festival 2022' at the Chief Minister's Secretariat, here, on Friday evening.
The campaign will focus on boosting tourist arrival figures during the state's biggest tourism festival.
It will also emphasise on highlighting the unique cultural diversity of the state and its tourism potential.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Bifen informed that the state government is making arrangement for organising the events of Sangai Festival at 13 locations across the state.
Praising the beauty of the state inhabited by different communities, he welcomed everyone to experience the extravaganza of Sangai Fes tival which will be celebrated under the theme 'Festival of Oneness'.
He then informed that the festival will be organised at different places with the aim of connecting different communities of Manipur.
Various events will be organised at different venues including Sangai Ethnic Park at Moi rang Khunou, Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT) and Hapta Kangjeibung, inauguration of Ibudhou Marjing statue at Heingang, Mapal Kangjeibung and Kangla Polo Ground, cherry blossom viewing event at Mao, recreational events at Khuman Lampak and Manipur State Film Development Society, Behiang and Khuga in Churachandpur, Makhel, Food Park at Nilakuthi, Koirengei and City Convention Centre.
The government is also planning to open Kangkhui Cave before the festival, he conveyed.
Biren further informed that plans are afoot to inaugurate the festival at Sangai Ethnic Park at Moirang Khunou, which could change to BOAT in case of inclement weather and social conditions.
The decision, however, is yet to be finalised.
Meanwhile, around 33 traditional huts have been built at the Moirang Khunou venue.
Regarding Internation al Polo event, polo players from USA and Argentina have confirmed their participation.
There will be mixed martial arts events; go-kart race at Koirengei; business summit at City Convention and tourism congress among others, he maintained.
Mentioning that many ambassadors and foreign diplomats had given confirmation for visiting the state for the festival, he appealed to the people of Manipur to show welcoming attitude and hospitality to visiting tourists.
This will make a good impression for the state, he added.
He appealed to all not to dump garbage on the roadside and put them at proper places for collection by authorities concerned.
He also urged the public to refrain from calling bandh and blockade which will give hardship to all people and create a bad image of the State.
Tourism Corporation of Manipur Limited chairman Karam Shyam, additional chief secretary V Vumlunmang, commissioner (Tourism) PK Jha and director (Tourism) W Ibohal also attended the launch event among others.
The festival will witness various events including fashion show, Sangai run, tourism pavilion, flower show, indigenous cultural programmes, handloom and handicrafts, Arambai show, Mukna, Yubi Lakpi, International Polo Tournament, CM's Sagol Kangjei Championship, Film screening and Mixed Martial Arts among others.
