Rongmei freshers-cultural meet held in Delhi

Imphal, November 04 2022:
Rongmei Phwam Delhi (Rongmei Council Delhi) in association with Rongmei Chamnac Phwam Delhi (Rongmei Students' Organisation, Delhi) and Ruangmei Charitable Society (RCS) organised the 3rd Rongmei Freshers' Meet-cum-Cultural Day for Rongmei students of Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) on October 29 at Daulat Ram College, Delhi University North Campus.
The programme held under the theme 'Rongmei Moving Forward' was attended by over 1000 Rongmei people working or studying in Delhi and NCR.
The programme opened with the Rongmei anthem "He Ruangmei Zaat" followed by cultural dance called "Sim Laam' presented by Youth Department of Ruangmei Christian Fellowship, Delhi.
Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways joint secretary Lucas L Kamsuan, who attended the programme as resource person, spoke on "Life in a city with a priority to develop professionalism" while Community Bible Church, Delhi pastor reverend Thomas Kahmei deliberated on the event's theme "Rongmei Moving forward".
Staging of traditional dances and songs, ethnic fashion parades, rendition of modern songs and presentation of the Rongmei Achievers' Award and Rani Gaidinliu Award were the highlights of the inauguration programme.
The second session began with staging of Rongmei Cultural Dance called "lautay-Laudy laam" by Rongmei Cultural Dance Troupe (RCPD).
In a joint release, RPD chairman Levi Thaimei and RCPD executive member K Rajuaklung Rongmei extended their heartfelt gratitude to all the official sponsors of the programme namely Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited (AICIL) and Canara HSBC Life Insurance Company Limited, donors and well-wishers, and all the participants.
