With the objective of ensuring voters to make better decision while electing their representatives, The People's Chronicle is presenting brief interview with the candidates in fray for the seat of Sagolband Assembly Constituency in the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
BJP candidate Rajkumar Imo said that serving the public selflessly is his motto and he is contesting the election to continue his service to the people of Sagolband and Manipur, which he has been doing so in the last 10 years.
Maintaining that Sagolband is the most developed constituency in the state, he said that he will set up a model school with state-of-the-art infrastructure and install solar lighting system in all clubs and community halls in the AC if he re-elected.
Regarding his vision for the state, the MLA said that he wants to make Manipur peaceful, developed and united.
He will work towards improving infrastructure in education, employment and medical sector as well as ensure protection of the indigenous people as his top priority, he said.
JD-U candidate Dr Kh Loken said that he had faced many hurdles as a political activist and he is contesting the election to carry out works, which he could not do as a mere activist to bring development.
If elected, he will prioritise improvement of economy and infrastructure to raise the living standard of the people of his constituency and take up initiatives to create jobs for educated youth.
Expressing concern over the lack of constitutional safe guard and development in the state, Loken said that he wants to protect the culture, language, boundary and identity of the state and its people apart from playing major role in bringing developmental change to make Manipur an advanced state in the country.
INC candidate Moirangthem Momo maintained that people may see the constituency as the most developed constituency but in the middle, there is nothing but hollow.
Living standard of the people is low and he is contesting the election to make Sagolband a model constituency.
For the people of his constituency, he wants to promote work culture, provide free and compulsory education, address water shortage issue, improve healthcare infrastructure and socio-economy condition of women if elected.
In order to bring infrastructural and economic development in the state, he would mobilise the vast resources of the state through multiple projects and create job opportunities for the youth.
