NPF in Manipur wakeup call for tribals: Awangbow
Dikho assures to safeguard Poumai, Mao tribes on delimitation issue

An election campaign of NPF candidate in Tadubi (ST) AC Francis Ngajokpa was held on Friday at Bendramai village in Senapati district with UDA chairman TR Zeliang as special guest.
NPF Manipur president Awangbow Newmai, Front's central working president Apong Pongener, secretary general Achumbemo Kikon, leaders of Maram and village authorities of different villages attended the campaign.
Former deputy speaker and NPF Manipur vice president K Raina, who was denied NPF ticket, stated that his presence proved the decision of Maram community to unitedly support anyone who got the party ticket.
Speaking on the occasion, Apong Pongener explained thatthe blue colour of the NPF flag stands for unity, white for peace and red for prosperity while the theme "Fide non arms' means by faith, not by arms while Awangbow Newmai commended K Raina for extending support to Francis Ngajokpa.
He further said that coming of NPF to Manipur is a wakeup call for the tribal people.
In the earlier period, many considered NPF as their enemy as if coming from different planet.
However, NPF tries by showing through action and understanding the sentiments of the people while other political parties condemn one another in almost all TV channels.
Unless political parties understand the sentiment of each and every community and respect their sentiments, problems would continue, he said.
NPF candidate Francis Nga-jokpa vowed to give special emphasis on Zeliang region in terms of development and employment if elected this time.
As special guest, TR Zeliang talked at length on the difference between national political parties and regional parties.
He said that elected representatives of national parties like Congress and BJP are unable to do anything as per aspiration of the people unlike regional party representatives who could work with more freedom.
Meanwhile, NPF candidate in Mao (ST) AC Losii Dikho campaigned at Shajouba village football ground in Sen-apati district Friday wherein he assured to safeguard both Poumai and Mao tribes on delimitation issue.
Addressing the gathering, Losii Dikho stressed the importance of forming the government with BJP saying NPF can become the kingmaker and bring changes in Manipur.
The coalition government led by BJP with NPF as one of the partners brought peace and development in Manipur in the past five years.
With such outstanding performance, the BJP government under the leadership of CM N Biren Singh has invited NPF to be partner in coming elections too.
On delimitation issue, Losii Dikho declared that representatives of Poumai and Mao tribes in Delimitation Core Committee have made a definite resolution to safeguard the interest of both Mao and Poumai tribes and even to the extent of circle wise (Paomata, Laii and Chiilivai circles).
He assured of safeguarding the unity of both the tribes with equality and for the welfare of both communities.
In his welcome address, L Adani informed the congregation that the convener of Political Affairs Committee (PAC) NSCN-IM declared that there is no restriction against NPF candidate in 48-Mao AC.
Those indulging in intimidation, coercion and violence are doing so on their own and without any official sanction whatsoever, he added.
Former Nagaland CM and NPF president Dr Shiirhozelie stated that the first and foremost task of the party is to bring solution for Naga people.
He also shared the difficulty faced when NPF party was launched in Manipur and the then O Ibobi led Congress government created hindrance to workers even to the extent of putting up anti-tribal Bills, thus forcing the four NPF MLAs to resign for the causes of Nagas.
Lok Sabha MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze also took part in the campaign and said that NPF stands for Naga causes and committed to bringing political solution.
