Moyon women's attire unveiled

Imphal, January 30 2014:
The 'Inih', traditional women fabric of Moyon tribe to be showcased in the Diamond Jubilee Sarong and Shawl celebration organized by Bujuur Shanuw Ruwrkheh (Moyon Women Organization) from January 9-11, 2015 was unveiled today during a ceremony held at Kapam village, Pallel in Chandel district.
The function was graced by Killu Sivakumar Naidu, SDO Chandel; Cr Shining, president of Bujuur Shanuw Ruwrkheh; Dr Chetana, IPS and Dr Gina Shangkham as Chief Guest, President and Guests of Honour respectively.
Addressing the gathering, Killu Sivakumar stated that women of the State have been playing important roles in major social issues and likewise women in Chandel are also engaging in various works to develop and promote the district whether it is in the area of tradition or culture.

He hailed the women for coming up with such rich traditional dress which will in turn help in preservation and conservation of the cultural heritage of Moyon tribe.
Dr Chetana said the Bujuur Shanuw Ruwrkheh since its inception in 1940 as an apex body has been rendering notable services in many fields and informed that there are approximately 5000 people in Moyon community with Khongju village as the birth place of the tribe and around 64 people in Ngaprung village, Tamu in Myanmar.
