46th LAGSA Sports Meet ends

Chandel, January 30 2014:
Boljang Students' Union clinched the men's football title while western valley Area team emerged as the women's volleyball champions in the 46th LAGSA Meet 2014 which concluded on January 29 at Pu Khupjam Memorial Ground, Khopijam village under Chakpikarong Sub division in Chandel district.
Boljang SU edged past Lamkhoson & Nemchin Memorial Team (LNMT) 5-3 via the tie-breaker following a 2-2 draw in normal time of the summit clash.
Boljang walked home with the trophy and cash prize of Rs 50,000 with runners-up LNMT awarded Rs 30,000 with the trophy.
The third and fourth place were secured by Khopimun and LYGSEDA respectively with Khopimun getting rs 15,000 and LYGSEDA bagging Rs 5000 .
In junior boys football final, Deaw Union Dongjang defeated Aihang Youth Club 2-1 to wrest the top honour carry- ing Rs 20,000 with Aihang having to content with Rs 15,000 .
Western Valley Area team won the women's volleyball crown beating Nungpan Youth Club to bag the cash prize of rs 20,000 as Nungpan settled for Rs 15,000 .
Jod and Thangtinlen of LNMT, Seiboi of LYGSEDA and Mangentung of Sajiktampak were respectively declared the tournament's best goalkeeper, top scorer, best player and hattrick award in the men's football with Anthony of Jonidar, Manginlal of Aihang, Thangminlen of Deaw Union and Manginlal bagging the same honours in the junior's category.
The LAGSA Meet 2014 organised by Lonpi Area Games & Sports Association, Chandel district was held under the theme 'Play the game in the spirit of the game' .
The closing ceremony was held with MLA (Chandel) St Nunghlung Victor as the chief guest.
