Imphal, January 30 2014:
Police today claimed the human skeleton found at Thoubal Khunou Lairen Achouba hillock on January 27 could be of a man who had disappeared without a trace since July 11 last year.
Whereabouts of AS Romeo, 36, a resident of Lisamlok (Kaina Chingthak) under Yairipok Police Station in Thoubal district, is still unknown after he had gone missing since July 11, 2013 .
According to a written missing report lodged by the family of Romeo with the Yairipok Police Station, Romeo had gone missing after he had visited his wife's residence three times on July 11, 2013 to call back her after a family quarrel.
Romeo, a father of three, had a quarrel with his wife named Merina, also from Lisamlok a couple of days before his missing.
The skeleton believed to be that of Romeo was found lying on the hillock about 100 mt from the foot of the hillock on January 27 .
Reports said that a group of bamboo-shoot collectors had earlier found a khudei (male loin cloth) stained with blood during rainy season last year on the same hillock about 100 mt from the spot where the skeleton was discovered.
Yairipok police recovered the cloth yesterday.
Romeo's family has identified the cloth and claimed that it belongs to him.
Police further informed that the skeleton would get DNA test on February 1 after which the real identity would be known.
