Recounting that after elopement and subsequent marriage ceremony performed three months after the elopement on November 10, 2013 in the presence of the bride's family elders the couple lived happily, the father in-law said Thoibi's maternal family settled in Thoubal Kiyam Siphai were informed about her death.
At the insistence of the maternal family members that Thoibi's death is suspicious, bore bruises apparently caused by thrashing and should be subjected to medical examination, the Khomdram family duly obliged for post mortem, conducted at JNIMS hospital, narrated Thoiba.
As Thoibi's body was cremated with the approval of the authority concerned (DC/IE) and in the presence of locals the accusation by her family that the last rite was conducted in a stealthy manner is neither justifiable nor acceptable, he maintained.
