Drug peddler, jewellery thieves arrested

Imphal, July 12 2022:
A team of Imphal East district police commandos arrested a drug peddler with heroin from Kiyamgei area at around 5.20 pm on Tuesday.
The arrested peddler has been identified as Khudeibam Boicha (20) s/o Kaji of Kiyamgei Awang Leikai.
The team recovered 30gm of heroin, a Bajaj Pulsar and one mobile phone from his possession.
According to a police report, the team was carrying out a checking-frisking operation at Kiyamgei Awang Leikai late Tuesday afternoon, when a man, later identified as Boicha riding a Bajaj Pulsar was stopped for checking.
Upon frisking Boicha, 30gm of heroin was recovered.
On questioning, Boicha revealed that he is a drug peddler and has been involved in the illegal trade for the past 3-4 months.
He further revealed that the seized drugs were purchased from one Naoton and sold at double the rate to local drugs users.
He also revealed that the initial seller of the drugs is one Md Sahidur of Keirao.
Both the arrested drug peddler and the seized items have been handed over to Irilbung PS for further legal action.
Meanwhile, a team of Lamphel PS has arrested two jewellery thieves and also recovered the stolen jewellery items.
The arrested thieves have been identified as Pukhrambam Dipu (27) s/o Ibomcha and Konsam Sanatomba (45) of (L) K Chandra, both hailing from Khundrakpam Mayai Leikai.
According to a police report, on June 22, one Maibam Ramananda of Lairikyengbam Leikai filed a report to Lamphel PS stating that some gold jewellery items from his residence had been stolen.
Based on the report, the PS took up a case and during the course of the investigation arrested Dipu and Sanatomba from their respective residences.
The team also recovered 15 gold jewellery pieces, some of which had been melted while others were intact.
The weight of all the gold jewellery items combined is around 29 'san' (84.535 gm) in total.
Both Dipu and Sanatomba have been remanded to police custody for further verification.
