Governor assures to address grievances of Saikul denizens

As a part of his series of visits to different districts and remote areas of the state to take stock of grievances of the people, Governor La Ganesan on Tuesday visited Saikul Sub Division in Kangpokpi district and interacted with the locals.
During the interaction programme held at Hoikhonei multipurpose hall at Thangkanphai village in Saikul sub-divisional headquarters, the Governor gave patient hearing to grievances and issues highlighted by district level officers, representatives of civil society organisations and village chiefs and assured them to take all possible steps at the soonest possible.
In his address, La Ganesan said, "The interaction programme held today is just like a Janata Darbar where people can raise their problems/issues directly to the authorities.
It is an opportunity through which, genuine grievances can be put up to the higher authorities for necessary action.
Issues raised in the programme will be sent to the authorities concerned and if necessary to the chief minister".
The Governor further stressed that as a citizen, we should respect our freedom fighters who had sacrificed their lives for the nation.
As the nation is going to celebrate the 75th years of Independence this year, we all should work for the betterment of our country, he said.
While stating that there should be an inclusive development in the country, he said that a number of schemes have been implemented and people benefited through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system through their bank accounts.
The Governor also acknowledged that the banking sector is taking a lead role in this direction and all should at least open a bank account.
Expressing concern over the increasing number of Covid cases in the state, the Governor emphasised that vaccination is the only means to fight the pandemic and urged all to get inoculated and stay safe.
On the country's aim to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) by 2025, La Ganesan asked the district administration to conduct door to door survey and find out TB cases.
On drug abuse and trafficking, the Governor appealed for cooperation with the government in fighting the menace and asked everyone to stand against drugs.
He also spoke on the importance of New Education Policy and its implementation.
Speaking on the occasion, local MLA Kimneo Hangshing expressed that the maiden visit by a Governor in Saikul showed that the head of the state cares about the people.
She also committed to all-round development in her constituency and the state and sought the cooperation of all in accelerating development works.
Earlier, Kuki Students' Organisation and Kuki Inpi, Saikul submitted a joint memorandum to the Governor and urged to address the issues at the earliest.
Kangpokpi DC Kengoo Zuringla, also spoke on the importance of the interaction programme which was also attended by secretary to Governor Bobby Waik-hom and people from different villages of Saikul area.
