Imphal, July 12 2022:
As a result of the announcement of first come first serve policy for direct admission to TG Higher Secondary School, long queue of students and their parents could be seen outside the government school since Monday midnight.
TG Higher Secondary School is one of the few government schools which the government gives extra attention in a bid to improve government schools.
Getting admission in such schools is becoming difficult as thousands of students both fronj government and private schools seek admission for 10+2 courses.
Despite repeated attempts to disperse the crowd since Monday midnight, parents and students continued to form the queue since early hours of Tuesday as the school authority had earlier announced its policy of taking admission of students on first come first serve basis.
Some parents told The People's Chronicle that they belong to poor families and considering the situation, they are worried if their children could not get admission in the government school.
Everybody would have a fair chance if the school authority conducts a draw of lots instead of first come first serve basis, they said.
Earlier on July 10, school principal Dr Vinita Devi Elangbam notified that the intake capacity for class 11 will be 800, which include 400 seats for Science, 300 for Arts and 100 for Commerce streams.
Half of the seats in each stream will be filled through first come first serve basis while the remaining half will be filled through entrance test.
The notification triggered a wave among the aspirant students in a bid to get enrolled in the first phase without waiting for the entrance test.
