Educating pig farmers about how ASF breaks out and transmitted can prevent the disease, he said.
As of now, there is neither any vaccine against ASF nor medicine to cure the disease, Khasim Vashum said.
Farmers should be imparted fair knowledge about all diseases common to not only pigs but also other domestic and farm animals, he said.
Farmers are the worst affected section when animal diseases break out and take the form of epidemic.
Such epidemics also harm the State's economy, he said.
He also expressed keen desire for the officials and staff of V&AH Department to cooperate with each other and work with dedication.
He also appealed to all the officers and staff to work collectively so that V&AH Department is upgraded to the level of a major department.
The technical session of the programme was moderated by V&AH Services Joint Director Dr S Binodkumari and Disease Specialist Dr Ch Jekendra as moderators.
Many experts talked on different topics and it was followed by an interaction session with pig farmers.
