Committee resolves to secure plot for Andaman guesthouse

Preservation Committee of Deported Manipuri War Heroes in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, in a meeting held at Manipur Press Club here on Tuesday, has resolved to take up necessary steps for getting the land plot to set up a Manipur state guest house on lease as offered by the UT government.
Tuesday's meeting adopted five resolutions, which include expansion of the Committee to pursue its objectives for the patriots effectively; nomination of six convenors for effective functioning of the committee; nomination of Sanoujam Tondang as the chief convenor of the committee; including all those who attended the meeting as members of the committee; and taking up necessary measures to get the plot for state guest house in Andaman and Nicobar Island as offered by the UT government.
Informing this to the media after the meeting, committee secretary N Nabakanta said that construction of a state guest house and a memorial structure for the martyrs have been a long standing demand of the committee and they also requested the UT government for a land plot for the same since 2005 .
Consequently, the UT government gave the approval in 2019 for a 2000 square metre plot.
Unfortunately, the state government has been ignoring the matter till date, he said.
Dalit Sahitya Akademi awardee Koijam Puinabati and Kangla Sintha Lembi Ima Lup president Yaikhom Thagoi attended the meeting as chief guest and president respectively while preservation committee advisor Moirangthem Naodalenkhomba, Kangla Men Surung Hangba advisor Soram Poreihanba Luwang, International Manipuri Mothers' Association advisor Khuman Leima, social worker Sanoujam Tondang, IKAL secretary general Wahengbam Luwangleima and social worker, Chingsubam Manitomba were present as guests of honour, he said.
