Imphal, February 25 2022:
Works Minister Th Biswajit has remarked that Congress was given the opportunity, time and power to bring developmental changes in the state, but failed to accomplish anything.
A public meeting for Ukhrul AC B7P candidate Somatai Shaiza was held at Sinakeithei on Friday.
During the meeting, the works minister also extended a warm welcome to former members of Naga People's Front (NPF) who had joined BJP.
Speaking on the occasion, Th Biswajit urged people to take a moment and thoroughly consider the changes brpught on by the BJP government in the past 5 years, compared to Congress' blatant wastage of the opportunity it had for 15 years to develop the state, address misunderstandings between the hills and the valley and maintain law and order.
He continued that for BJP, everyone is part of the family and any development benefits all concerned.
Thus, he urged the people to elect BJP candidates to ensure equal development in the state.
Meanwhile, BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson L Bashanta Sharma has ruled out post poll alliance with any political party, saying that the party will emerge victorious with absolute majority.
Addressing a press meet held at the party office here on Friday, Bashanta said that BJP formed a coalition government as it could not attain absolute majority in the last election.
But today, BJP is gaining strength and popularity in the state due to its commitment and capability of fulfilling the key promises made in the election manifesto, he said.
He slammed NPP for raising baseless allegations of BJP violating coalition ethics.
Though NPP, JD-U and NPF are NDA and NEDA partners, BJP will form the government on its own without any support from them, he said, while expressing confidence that the party will have a landslide victory this time.
Regarding the silence of the party on AFSPA issue, Bashanta said that the party is trying to find the right time to lift up the Act from not only the state but also from Jarnmu and Kashmir.
The reason why the issue was not mentioned in the manifesto is that no incidents of fake encounter or extra-judicial killings have occurred during the last five years.
As for the non-functioning of MPSC, it is because of a pending case in the Supreme Court and once the case is disposed the commission will start functioning, he said.
He further said that the BJP government provided financial assistance to 12,000 individuals under MUDRA Loan and the Start Up Scheme has benefited more than 6 lakh people of the state.
