PM Modi keen to develop northeast: Faggan Singh
Union Minister reviews Central/State sponsored schemes in Chandel

Union minister of state for steel and rural development Faggan Singh Kulaste was accorded a warm reception by BJP workers at party's state office here on Wednesday.
In his speech at the felicitation event, Faggan Singh noted that Manipur has a BJP government due to hard work of party workers and lauded their role in the just concluded state assembly election.
According to Faggan Singh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been paying special attention towards bringing development in the North East ever since the BJP came to power in 2014 .
The PM knew that India could not develop fully without the development of North East and accordingly initiated steps to develop the region.
With this vision, the BJP government created a separate ministry and special attention is being given to develop IT sector in the region, he said, adding that Government of India is now focusing more on developing roads and communication network in the region.
While claiming that the BJP government had established several educational institutions in the North East, Faggan Singh Kulaste said that the tribal ministry was created for inclusive development in the country.
The event was also attended by MLA U Deben, BJP Manipur Pradesh vice president Nimbus, general secretaries Deven and Premananda, apart from BJP workers.
The Union minister also visited aspirational district Chandel and interacted with officials of various departments, local community delegates, Self Help Group leaders and tribal delegates of the district at mini conference hall of DC Chandel office complex.
During the interaction programme organised by district administration, various communities of the district shared their success and failure stories to Faggan Singh.
The delegates expressed their gratitude to the union minister for initiating such extensive outreach programme for the welfare of the people.
The minister also interacted with key district level officers and inquired about the initiatives and projects taken up under the Central and state sponsored schemes.
During the discussion, Faggan Singh said that several measures and initiatives are being taken up to make Chandel a prosperous and developed district.
He also assured of looking into the demands raised by all the delegates.
The visiting Union minister also inspected Maha Area Producers Co-operative Society Limited (MAPS) at Liwa Khullen village, which is supported and promoted by CDCRMS in collaboration with NERCORMP, Chandel.
The minister inspected different varieties of food products available at the centre and lauded the role and efforts of the farmers in the development of the district and the state.
He also handed over Short Term Training Certificates to students during the programme.
