Manipur crush Tripura 8-1 in campaign opener in HI Junior Men National C'ship

Imphal, May 18 2022:
Manipur got their campaign off to a resounding start with an 8-1 demolition of Tripura in their Pool D match in the 12th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2022 at Kovilpatti, Tamil Nadu, on Wednesday.
Both Yumkham Bidyananda Singh (26', 43') and Dingku Sharma Gurumayum (48', 49') scored twice for the state team as teammates Thokchom Bikramjit Singh (3'), Lelmapokpam Boing Singh (9'), Thounaojam Ingalemba Luwang (21') and Sushil Lisham (56') claimed a goal each.
On the other hand, Tripura's only goal was scored by Parveen Kumar (44').Manipur next play Haryana on May 21 .
Earlier in first Pool D match, Hockey Haryana thumped Kerala Hockey 8-0 .
Rajat (6 ), Amandeep (20'), Ankit (28 ), Tanuj Saroha (35'), Deepak (36), Vasu Dev (42'), Gurnoor Grewal (47') and Captain Vikas (54') were the scorers for Haryana.
In the day's first match, Delhi Hockey handed a 7-2 defeat to Hockey Uttarakhand.
Nitin (35' ,58') grabbed a double as Rohit (24 ), Vikas Upadhyay (39'), Sahil Kumar (43'), K Rohit (44') and Naveen Bidhuri (56') chipped in with one goal each for the winning side.
For Uttarakhand, Vishal Kumar (14') and Deepak Singh Fartyal (54') scored a goal each.
In Pool F, Hockey Punjab scored a 3-0 win over Hockey Andhra Pradesh.
Abhitab Singh (8'), Pardeep Singh (41') and Gurbakhsish Singh (43') got their names on the score-sheet to steer their team to a convincing victory.
