Churachandpur, July 21 2022:
Strongly condemning the meeting convened by some vested interest groups for electing chief of Keirap Khullen Haotak village under Churachandpur district subsequent to the death of its chief Serto Solokhup Kom, one Serto Hmamang Kom has termed both the meeting and election as untenable and against the Kom customary law.
In a statement issued Thursday, Hmamang Kom, who is the son of deceased chief (L) S Solokhup Kom, claimed that he is the natural heir and is surprised by the claims made by the vested interest groups.
"This is totally against the customary practices of Kom tribe," he said, while appealing to all organisations and government institutions not to recognise any other person's claim as chief of KK Haotak village, other than him as any other claim to chieftainship is impossible
as per the Kom's customary law.
