Elections keep democracy alive: Governor

Governor La Ganesan has said that election is an important event in any democratic country and it keeps the democracy alive.
Interacting with media persons after casting his vote at polling station number 11/34 of Sagolband assembly constituency at TG Higher Secondary School on Monday morning, the Governor said that voters should exercise their voting rights freely.
He also called upon the public to contribute their mite in making the election violence free.
On the other hand, chief minister N Biren and his wife Hiyainu also cast their votes at polling station number 2/16 of Heingang assembly constituency at Sriban High School model polling station around 7.15 am.
Briefly speaking to the media there, Biren urged the public to freely exercise their voting rights and refrain from indulging in violent activities.
Expressing confidence that BJP will get absolute majority, he assured of bringing peace and development further in the state after an only BJP government is formed in the state.
He also expressed confidence that the party will win at least 30 out of the 38 seats that went to polls in the first phase.
He said that the party is getting full support of the public due to its good governance and welfare programmes taken up for the public.
