Thoubal, February 28 2022:
Workers of Wangkhem AC BJP candidate Yumnam Nabachandra allegedly prevented workers of other candidates particularly that of Congress from entering the former's home polling station, Haokha Kiyam.
However, Election Management Committee of the BJP candidate is refusing to admit any such thing, Wangkhem Block Congress Committee general secretary Ch Biru has stated.
Addressing a press meet at the office of the Committee on Monday, Biru recounted workers of the BJP candidate forcefully put up flags of the saffron party at the homes of Congress workers, issued threats and interrupted a Congress campaign/meeting held in Haokha Mamang while feigning innocence.
No restriction was placed on any other candidates when they wanted to conduct a campaign in the home polling station of Congress candidate Meghachandra.
Urging the BJP workers not to harass and threaten Congress workers from exercising their democratic right ofchoosing their own candidates; Biru remarked that BJP has been violating democratic norms not only in Wangkhem but also in other parts of the state.
He then urged for holding the elections in a peaceful manner, while respecting the democratic process.
