Poll personnel found dead, CEO condoles

In a sad turn of events, one Manipur Rifles personnel who was on election duty at 55/37 Senvon (C) polling station in Tipaimukh Assembly segment was found dead during the first phase of State Assembly election today.
The cause of death of the personnel identified as Havildar Naorem Ibochouba Singh, son of N Gopal Singh from Kakching Labango Pareng, Kakching district is suspected to be accidental firing from his service weapon as per an UD case registered today.
Havildar N Ibochouba was leading the MR personnel deputed at the said polling station.
As per sources, N Ibochouba was found dead at around 12.45 am on a mattress in a room assigned for personnel inside the premises of the polling station.
It is suspected that "he accidentally fired upon himself" with his service weapon (SMG Carbine) and a case regarding the incident has been registered at Parbung police station and investigation is underway.
Incidentally, another polling personnel detailed for duty at polling station 55/1- Chingmun under 55-Tipaimukh AC died of BP stroke.

Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer of Manipur, Rajesh Agarwal expressed his condolence over the demise of Havildar Naorem Ibochouba Singh who was detailed for poll duty at 55/37 Senvon (C) Polling Station, Tipaimukh AC and the other personnel who succumbed to a stroke.
The dead body of N Ibochouba was recovered by concerned officials with the help of Rapid Response team (RRT) before being airlifted to Imphal by helicopter and deposited at JNIMS morgue, said PMC in a press note.
One Sub- Inspector (IO) and a Magistrate accompanied the body, it added.
