Imphal, February 28 2022:
Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) has expelled former secretary of CPI Tentha Heibung Branch, Sagolsem Prasenjit from the Party.
A statement issued by Assistant Secretary, MSC/CPI, M Joykumar Luwang, shared that the expulsion came in connection with the issue of Sagolsem Prasenjit along with a few men broadcasting to the media that 35 members had resigned from the party.
Upon conducting further investigation into the matter, Tentha Zonal secretary M Nabachandra allegedly found that many of the 35 resigned members were actually persons who had not renewed the party identity cards since 4/5 years while some others had been registered as party members without their knowledge, as per the statement from MSC/CPI.
At this juncture, Wangjing Tentha Local Council secretary M Biharjit convened an emergency local secretariat meeting and conducted further investigation.
The statement shared that as per the investigation, S Prasenjit and a few other men were found to be behind this conspiracy.
Following this, a written application was submitted to the secretary of MSC/CPI.
After due deliberation, the decision was made to expel Sagolsem Prasenjit from the party indefinitely.
The statement concluded with the appeal urging people to be skeptical of any statement Sagolsem Prasenjit puts out regarding this issue.
