Police accused of threatening K Tuinem denizens

Imphal, February 28 2022:
Police personnel are unreasonably threatening the residents of K Tuinem Village in Tengnoupal District, Meira Paibi (Napuia Yinglam) secretary Tantanga Tungdar has said.
Speaking to newspersons at Manipur Press Club here Monday, Tantanga recounted that on February 27 around 3 am, a group of people accompanied by uniformed police personnel from Tengnoupal PS entered K Tuinem village and barged into several houses, threatening the occupants.
Some of the families in the village have only female residents.
Strongly condemning the incident, Tantanga raised suspicion if the threats were related to the polls and as such, urged the authority concerned to look into the matter and take strict action against the person(s) involved including the police personnel.
She further urged against a repeat of such incident in the future, while cautioning of intense agitation in case the demands of the villagers are not fulfilled.
