Ukhrul, Kamjong all set for polls: DEO

Krishna Kumar, District Election Officer (DEO) for Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, has said that all necessary preparations have been made for smooth conduct of the second phase of the Assembly election in the two districts.
Briefing media persons at the Ukhrul DC conference hall on Monday, DEO Kumar informed thatelaborate security arrangementsiiave also been made to ensure peaceful conduct of the polls.
He said that there are 219 polling stations, including 78 in Phungyar AC, 71 in Ukhrul AC and 70 in Chin-gai AC.
Out of this, a total of 148 polling'stations have been identified as critical and 55 as vulnerable.
"This time, we have proposed to set up a total of 4 model polling stations; two for Ukhrul AC and one each for Chingai AC and Phungyar AC", he said.
The DEO continued that, there will be 45 all women polling stations in the three assembly constituencies, including 41 in Ukhrul AC andtwo each in Chingai AC and Phungyar AC.
He also informed that third round of training has been done for all the polling personnel and that dispatch of the polling officers to their respective polling stations will commence from March 3.Informing that polling will take place on March 5, he said that counting of votes will be held at the Mini Secretariat on March 10.At the same time, the DEO informed that other than voter's ID card, voters can also use other 13 cards including Aadhaar, pan card, passport, to cast their votes on the polling day.
