Kangpokpi, February 28 2022:
Cadres of Kuki National Front (KNF), which is under Suspension of Operations with the governments of India and Manipur exercised their franchise at their designated Ebenezer Peace Camp at Nathel-jang in Kangpokpi district on Monday.
Union home minister Amit Shah had assured to resolve the Kuki political issue if the Kukis in Manipur vote the BJP in the ensuing 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2022 when he visited Chura-chandpur and Kangpokpi, the two hill districts of the state who went to polls on Monday.
The cadres of the outfit were seen lining up with their full uniform and arms to cast their vote at the Ebenezer Peace Camp while greeting the polling officials on their arrival.
In all, 30 eligible voters of the outfit from Saikul, Kangpokpi and Saitu ACs cast their vote through postal ballot.
Speaking to media persons, KNF's Joint Monitoring Group member Rohan Kuki recounted that the KNF had signed a Suspension of Operations agreement with the Government of India and the state government in 2008 to resolve the vexed political issues of the Kukis through negotiation.
He continued that since then, they have sincerely participated in exercising their rights at the designated peace camp anticipating an early solution to the vexed political issue.
"We are happy that our boys could also participate again in the biggest festival of democracy today at our camp," he added.
He then urged the governments of India and Manipur to resolve the Kuki political issue at the earliest.
