DEO Ukhrul briefs on poll preparedness

Ukhrul, February 28 2022:
The District Election Officer Ukhrul, Krishna Kumar on Monday highlighted the preparations carried out for smooth conduct of the second phase of 12th Manipur Assembly Election in Phungyar, Ukhrul and Chingai assembly constituencies.
The briefing on poll preparedness was conducted in the presence of SP Ukhrul, Saujanya Singh, ADM Chunglenmang Kipgen, ADM Kamjong Kajagai at Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat Office Complex, Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.
Political parties representatives of Ukhrul and Kamjong were also invited to attend the briefing.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishna Kumar informed that out of the total 219 polling stations in the three constituencies, 148 were classified as critical polling stations and 55 as vulnerable.
4 polling stations have been designated as model polling stations including 2 in Ukhrul and 1 each in Phungyar and Chingai constituency.

Election observers (General, Police and Expenditure) have been stationed in the District Headquarters to monitor the situation.
Additional central security forces have also arrived to ensure a peaceful election, he added.
He also mentioned that randomization of EVM machines have been carried out successfully in the presence of political parties representatives including election observers while adding that 3 tier security arrangements have been made for strong room.
Stating that polling personnel will be dispatched from March 3, the DEO stated that adequate security arrangements and strict instructions have been given to them to prevent any untoward incident during the polling day.
District Control Centre contact number-1950 has been activated for any queries related to ensuing election, he added.
He also informed that the 48 hour silence period must be strictly observed by all political parties while adding that in form campaigning will be strictly prohibited and in case of violation, it will be dealt with as per the ECI guidelines.
The DEO further caution polling agents to not violate or intimidate any person for votes.
