Imphal, February 28 2022:
Longmai (Noney) Pei Customary Court has issued a clarification regarding the incident of preventing the helicopter carrying Union minister Dr RK Ranjan from landing at Longmai Churches Fellowship (LCF) ground on February 26, saying that the issue has triggered misleading information among the people of the state.
In a release, Longmai Pei secretary Gongjai Kamei said that the press statement accusing Gaidon Kamei and his supporters for the unfortunate incident is nothing but to induce and create confusion among the people.
"This was deliberately planned and executed with an ulterior motive to tarnish his (Gaidon) image.
He is a good leader who is true to his words, he still lends his unconditional support and continues to remain loyal to the party," it said.
It also said that the visit of Dr RK Ranjan came as a surprise to everyone in the village.
The Helipad site is owned by Longmai Churches Fellowship Noney and as such prior assent has to be taken from the authority concerned.
Moreover, no village leaders were informed about the visit of the Union Minister.
"While we regret the unfortunate incident, there are individuals who used the whole incident to cover up their failure and propagate hatred and confusion among the people by giving false information and narrative to the media," it said.
It also asserted that anyone trying to breach the integrity of Noney (Longmai) for vested interests will be dealt swiftly according to the customary law of the village.
The release maintained that the misleading news has created and painted the whole unfortunate incident as poll related violence though it has nothing to do with any party/parties and not related with the 2022 elections.
However, the whole incident was a spontaneous protest staged by the womenfolk of Noney (Longmai) village against Dinganglung Gangmei alias Dipu Gangmei for his provocative remarks against the village of Noney (Longmai) and its people.
In one of his audio clip he was saying "We will all be dead if we continue to follow people from Noney (Longmai)," the release quoted, adding that the said audio clip also went on to narrate a highly provocative statement against the leaders of the village.
The Customary Court strongly condemns these wild allegations and demands an unconditional apology from Dinganglung Gangmei (BJP candidate).
The people of Noney (Longmai) will accept nothing less than the personal appearance of Dinganglung Gangmei in the Court of the village, it said and appealed to authorities concerned to look into the matter and deal with the person responsible for all the chaos before things spiral out of hand.
