UADC staffer dies, death toll reaches 14

Ukhrul, May 30 2021:
A 54-year-old staffer of Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (UADC) succumbed to Covid-19 infection at Ukhrul District Hospital (UDH) on Sunday.
Sources from UDH said that the deceased S Paulinus, an AE of UADC, was declared dead at 1:25 pm on Sunday, citing cardio pulmonary arrest as the immediate cause of death.
The deceased who hailed from Chingjaroi Khullen village, was found Covid positive on Rapid Antigen Test on May 15 and was admitted to the Covid Isolation Ward of the hospital on May 17 .
On Sunday morning, his condition deteriorated and even as CPR was initiated as per latest ACLS protocols, the patient went into a coma, it said.
The latest casualty has taken the district's overall death toll to 14 amid the raging second wave of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, a brief memorial service for the deceased was observed by TCFC at the hospital premises before his mortal remains were sent off to his native place for the final rites.
The administration of UADC has condoled the demise of its staff member.
"The Lord giveth and He taketh...the Ukhrul Council fraternity bid farewell to our beloved Paulinus AE ic of Chingjaroi Khullen," CEO UADC Polly Makan said.
"Thank you all and God bless Chingai MLA Khashim Vashum and his workers, Ukhrul DC Joseph Kamson and his team, TCFC, doctors and staff of the district hospital and all well-wishers for your help and support in times of our grief," she added.
On the same day, eight fresh positive cases have been detected in the district, according to a DSO source.
However, with 12 patients discharged from the isolation centres on Sunday, the tally of active cases has come down to 111 from Saturday's 124 .
Currently, 60 inmates are being lodged in Transit camp CCC, 18 at UDH Isolation Ward, 24 at Jessami CIC, three each at Tongou CIC and Shangkai CIC, two at Lambui CIC and one at Maichon CIC.
The total cumulative number of positive cases stands at 365, of which 210 are male and 155 female, it said.
