MPP seeks all-party meet on COVID-19

While stressing the need for fighting COVID-19 pandemic with thorough discussion and deliberation on the present situation, Manipur People's Party (MPP) has demanded convening of an all-political party meet.
Addressing media persons at its office near Imphal Pologround on Sunday, MPP general secretary Gitajen appealed to chief minister N Biren Singh to convene an all-political party meeting so that a committee of political parties could be constituted to share responsibility in the collective fight against the virus and no political parties should take political mileage from the present critical situation in the state.
The MPP leader further said that the party has been helping poor and needy people since the pandemic hit the state and volunteers of the parties are distributing cash and relief materials in every district of the state.
He also appealed to NSFA beneficiaries who are not getting their entitled rice quota to bring their complaints to the party so that necessary legal action could be initiated against erring officials/agents.
MPP vice president S Ibomcha, who also attended the press conference, noted that though the government has been strongly advocating mass vaccination to curb spread of COVID-19 vaccine often go out of stock when people go for vaccination and hence this problem must be solved at the earliest.
He also said that home isolation of positive patients is one main reason for spread of the virus far and wide and this must be looked into seriously or else fight against the virus would remain unsuccessful.
