BJP team visits Paite, Hmar IDPs

Jiribam, August 03 2026:
A delegation of the BJP Manipur Pradesh today visited internally displaced persons (IDPs) belonging to the Paite and Hmar communities in Jiribam.
The BJP delegation reached Jiribam as part of a peace mission conducted under the supervision of Chief Minister Y Khemchand and Rajya Sabha MP A Sharda Devi, who is also the president of BJP Manipur Pradesh.
The delegation was led by BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary P Premananda Meitei.
As part of the mission, the BJP leaders visited Hmar and Paite IDPs at Rani Veng, Chandrapur Ward no 7 and listened to their grievances and concerns.

The displaced persons raised several issues, including the non-receipt of pending instalments of financial assistance for house construction, ration support, and others.
The issues raised by the IDPs were immediately conveyed to Chief Minister Y Khemchand.
Following the Chief Minister's advice, the BJP leaders held discussions with Jiribam Deputy Commissioner Arvind Hanglem regarding the concerns raised by the displaced persons.
They later assured the IDPs that the pending instalments of financial assistance for house construction would be released at the earliest.
Following the assurance, the IDPs expressed their gratitude to the BJP delegation for undertaking the peace mission, listening to their concerns, and taking steps to address their grievances.
Later, the BJP team visited Borobekra and interacted with members of different communities, conveying a message of peace and unity.
They also visited the IDPs taking refuge at Jakuradhor police station.
The IDPs requested the BJP team to establish a permanent camp of State forces in the area and complete the construction of houses that were destroyed during the peak of the conflict.
Speaking to the media, Premananda said that they are on a five-day peace mission in Jiribam under the guidance of the Chief Minister and the party president.
Stating that the people they interacted with also wanted peace to prevail in the State, he said the team would also visit Bengali Hindu and Bishnupriya communities residing under the Borobekra circle.
Premananda was accompanied by former BJP candidate N Budhachandra Singh, BJP Imphal West district President Phamdom Phoni Meitei and BJP Jiribam Mandal gen secy Ch Sunamani Singh.
