Many deprived of NFSA rations, seek Government intervention

Names of many beneficiaries under National Food Security Act from Kshetrigao AC have been removed for failure to link ration card with aadhaar card.
Youth For Change, Kshetrigao AC said in a press release issued today and added that many beneficiaries from 9 Fair Price Shops in the AC have been removed and have been denied their rations.
Public Distribution System (PDS) agents in Kshetrigao AC had collected the documents from the beneficiaries along with Rs 50/100 on many occasion, however, it was informed recently that as they had not linked their ration cards and aadhaar card, their names have been removed from the list of beneficiaries and they will not be given rations.
Youth for Change questioned why the beneficiaries will be denied their rations when the officials and agents failed to do their duties and demanded that the agents and officials linked the documents as soon as possible and provide rations to all the beneficiaries.
The statement also sought government attention on instance of giving reduced quantity of rice against government directives.
In another instance, Northern United Clubs' Organisation (NUCO) questioned whether the distribution of 3kg of rice per person under NFSA in Lamsang AC against government's order of 5kg is being dine by agent or nominee and sought clarification on where the balance amount of rice is being utilized.
The statement also added that beneficiaries cannot bear the burden of the failure of agents and other to link aadhaar as the agents had already collected copy of aadhaar and passport size photographs from the beneficiaries.
NUCO also demanded a white paper within two days on list of beneficiaries whose aadhaar and photographs have been collected but not linked yet.
