Imphal, August 03 2026:
Even though POL transporters have called off their hands off steering-wheel stir, no fuel tankers plied the NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) today.
While no tankers operated on the route today, as many as 300 goods laden trucks under security escort left Jiribam for Imphal, and a convoy of security escorting 142 empty trucks left Imphal for Jiribam.
Sources said at least 83 petrol/diesel carrying tankers and 40 LPG bullet tankers are currently stuck at Jiribam.
While the exact reason for fuel tankers not operating today couldn't be ascertained, sources said the tankers may operate tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the 300 goods trucks which left Jiribam this morning at 6.15 are stuck at Oinamlong and Nungkao areas due to bad road conditions.
Drivers said the conditions of the highway on many sections have deteriorated due to rain.
Vehicles getting stuck in the middle of the road has become a common sight hindering swift movement of convoy, they said.
Trucks and other vehicles are facing a major problem traversing a sunken stretch between Noney police station and Assam Rifles post.
Excavators are being used to push vehicles, the drivers added.
